THIS year’s Poppy Appeal will be launched by district councillor Paul Whitaker in Craven Court Shopping Centre on Monday, October 28, at 11am.
He will be joined by fellow councillors and representatives of local armed forces branches, including the Skipton branch of the Royal |British Legion, RAFA and Royal Naval Association. Reverend Roger Lowans will lead prayers.
Following the launch Poppy Stalls will pop up in local supermarkets and retail outlets. Over 400 collection boxes have been distributed to schools, local businesses and pubs throughout the district by a dedicated team of volunteers.
On Remembrance Sunday the parade will form up on Bunkers Hill at 10.30am and will parade to Newmarket Street then up the High Street to the Skipton war memorial.
Following prayers, the Last Post and wreath laying, a service of Remembrance will be held in the Holy Trinity Church.
