A DOUBLE Paralympic gold medallist from Lothersdale has jointly written a book providing a motivational guide for children.

Danielle Brown penned Be Your Best Self: Life Skills For Unstoppable Kids with nine-year-old Nathan Kai, the world’s youngest self-development author.

The duo had met-up at an event, and Nathan – then seven – suggested the book following months of fruitless searching for that type of publication.

Their resultant book takes children on a journey of self-discovery, encouraging them to raise their aspirations and turn dreams into reality.

The highly-illustrated content delivers messages about how to deal with setbacks and failures, to be self-disciplined and stay focused.

Written for children aged eight and over, it also focuses on building confidence and better mental health.

Danielle, who in addition to her Paralympic archery success was also five-times world champion, said: “It really surprised me that there was nothing out there to help children develop strong foundations and become the most successful versions of themselves.

“Working with Nathan is an awesome experience and together we’ve been able to create something that can really make a difference to children.”

Nathan said he had long wanted to be an author and was “elated” to work with Danielle.

“My mother has always held self-development and self-esteem as important so naturally I was influenced by these healthy core messages,” he added.

“I knew there would be many children not only wanting to be the very best versions of themselves and succeed, but also seeking to learn more about how to deal with setbacks and difficulties and thrive in the face of them.

“The book lets children know that they are unique, valuable and important, and that they can achieve their dreams. We can all be brilliant if we work hard and develop our strengths and weaknesses.

“With Danielle, we transmute our learnings, experiences, goals, strategies and mindsets through the book into a positive, inspirational set of messages to help other children.

“Children really need these messages, role models and tool-kits for success, high self-esteem and happiness in life.”

Danielle and Nathan are planning to ‘bring to life’ the contents of the book through workshops and presentations.
