THE next concert in Skipton Music's season will be by the Barbican String Quartet.

Featuring Amarins Wierdsma and Tim Crawford on violins, Christoph Slenczka on viola and Yoanna Prodanova on cello, they will perform music by Haydn, Janacek and Schubert.

Acclaimed for their “gusto, comradeship and sharp attack” (The Times) and “blazing and unusually forthright performance” (The Telegraph), the Barbican Quartet was founded at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Winners, in 2018, of both the St. Martin’s Chamber Music Competition and the Albert and Eugenie Frost Prize of the Royal Philharmonic Society, this young ensemble regularly performs in the UK and continental Europe, and their performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 as a part of the Barbican Total Immersion and BBC Proms.

Skipton Music is always keen to welcome young people to their concerts, which is why tickets for accompanied school students cost only £1.

Tickets for the concert, which will take place on Tuesday November 26 at Christ Church, Skipton are £17.50 and selling fast.

They are available from skiptonmusic.org.uk or the Box Office: 01756 799912.

The third concert in this series will be by the Antara Duo on Tuesday, January 21. Featuring Thomas Hancox on flute and Rachel Wick on harp, they will perform a delightfully varied programme of music by CPE Bach, Mozart, Faure, and Britten.
