FAMILIES planning to drop in on Santa this Christmas at Ingleborough Cave, Clapham, will be able to avoid the queues by booking online.

Santa has been making an appearance at the cave, first discovered in 1837, on the route to Ingleborough - the second highest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks - for more than 30 years, making a pre-Christmas visit a tradition for many families across Craven.

The Christmas trail starts in the village, winds through the Ingleborough Estate nature trail, passing the lake, the money tree and ‘Aunt Bessie’s Grotto’. On arriving at the entrance to the cave, visitors are fitted with a hard hat before entering the underground ‘winter wonderland’ and Santa’s grotto.

Cave manager Andrew Jarman said: “The move to an online booking system will allow us to improve the experience for visitors, and it will put an end to queues”.

Visitors will also be able to stay warm with the newly installed Yule Tide Yurt, complete with festive log burner.
