A MOTORIST was seriously injured in a crash at Sutton-in-Craven last night.

The single-vehicle accident happened in Ellers Road at about 11pm.

A man in his 30s was driving a Ford Fiesta, which lost control.

The vehicle overturned before coming to rest back on its wheels.

Police and paramedics, plus fire crews from Keighley and Skipton, attended.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and a hazardous area response team.

The injured man – the only occupant of the car – was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

Watch commander Michael Rhodes, of Keighley Fire Station, said: "We received the call as a road traffic collision with a person trapped, but when we arrived the man had been released from the vehicle.

"We made the car and the scene safe and carried out a search of the immediate area to ensure there were no other casualties."
