SKIPTON fire crew members exercised their extensive repertoire of skills when they were called to an unusual rescue in Glusburn on Wednesday afternoon.
The team answered a call after an adult tawny owl had been found trapped in a chimney.
Firefighters parked the fire engine nearby to provide lighting and accessed the chimney from the roof of the building.
The callout was made at around 5.30pm and the unruffled, though heavily sooted bird of prey was handed over to the RSPCA after the successful rescue.
