HUNDREDS of people are preparing to don Santa and Elf outfits to run, jog or walk in the 7th annual Barnoldswick Santa fun run.

Due to take place on Sunday, December 15, the 5km event, which will set off from West Craven High School, will once again raise money for the Bosom Friends cancer support group, which since 2000 has worked to help those affected by cancer across Pendle, Craven and the Ribble Valley, and has raised almost £1 million.

This year’s event was officially launched at the Barnoldswick offices of estate agent, Petty Real, the event’s main sponsor, with the presentation of £500 to Bosom Friend’s, Sharon Hurst.

Simon Morgan, director at Petty Real, said: “We’ve been aware of Bosom Friends for a few years now and we’re really happy to get the opportunity to show our support as the main sponsor. We are always on the lookout for good causes in the community and this one is particularly special to everyone.”

Ms Hurst said:”It’s great Petty Real have continued to support this event both financially and also allowing people to collect entry forms from the Barnoldswick branch of Petty Real.”

Not only does the fun run, which last year saw more than 300 take part, raise money for Bosom Friends, it is also an opportunity for the community to get together involving both businesses and residents, and launch themselves into the festive spirit.

The run, on Sunday, December 15, will start at 11am from outside West Craven High School, Kelbrook Road.

Entry is £10 per person, and £5 for children, including a free Santa suit. Children as young as five can take part, and the 5km run takes a route from the high school along the canal, to Salterforth, along Kelbrook Road to the finish at the Town Square. The event is also sponsored by West Craven Insurance, Hope Technology and Barnoldswick Rotary.

Registration forms are available from Petty Real, Station Chambers, Barnoldswick, or online at santarun.bebosomfriends.org.uk.
