TWO nursing homes are opening their doors to older people in the community who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.
Currergate at Steeton and Beanlands, Cross Hills, are inviting people to enjoy a free festive lunch and day of celebrations.
The homes, which are both owned by Czajka Care Group, will be serving traditional Christmas dinners from noon.
Konrad Czajka, the group’s managing director, said: “Christmas is always a special time across all our homes, with lots of events and parties taking place.
“However, we know this time of year can also be a struggle for those who live alone – perhaps they have recently lost a partner or their families live a long way away and can’t be with them.
“Being alone at Christmas is particularly tough, so we wanted to invite any older people in the area to come and spend it with us. We issued a similar invitation last year which was well received, and we hope we can make a difference to people who feel lonely and isolated this Christmas.”
Places should be booked by calling 01274 599564.
