THIS week we take a short trip down memory lane, or in this case, Newmarket Street, in Skipton.
Many of the buildings, some imposing shop premises, some domestic houses, have either gone or changed dramatically since the time the photographs were taken.
But they give a glimpse into how the street scene played out in days gone by and are in stark contrast to the busy thoroughfare it is today.
There are no specific dates with most of the photographs, but it is clear to say they are mostly before the motor car laid claim to the roads.
Many premises were homes and businesses to people who eked out a living in the town .
The photographs form part of the Rowley collection.
They are reproduced by kind permission of the Ellwood family, Mrs V Rowley, and North Yorkshire County Council, Skipton Library.
