GARGRAVE fish and chip shop owner Mark McManus is teaming with the local church to bring some Christmas cheer to the homeless.
Mr McManus, who runs the Frying Yorkshireman has invited people to book a charity meal in the adjacent restaurant on Thursday, December 19, and all the money raised from the sale of the meals will go to a local charity that helps the homeless.
“We only opened earlier this year and opened the restaurant part in October so we’re quite new to the village. The vicar at the church, Andrew Steer, has also only recently come to Gargrave and we are working together to organise this fundraiser.
“I am planning on doing two restaurant sittings of 24, with crackers and decorations. The money people pay for the meals will all go towards the fundraiser and help some of those who are finding themselves homeless this winter.
To check for spare places, contact the shop on 01756 748345.
Anyone wishing to make a donation can do this through Mr McManus or through Mr Steer at St Andrew’s Church.
