SKIPTON Walking Football Club which is open to all genders aged over 50 has reached 70 members.
Based at Sandylands Sports Centre, walking football is a slower version of the game designed to help people keep an active lifestyle and help older people who live in social isolation meet new friends.
Organisers say the game keeps you fit and healthy, reduces stress, reduces risk of cardiovascular disease and strokes, improves blood pressure and blood sugar levels, improves balance and strength and reaction times.
Playing walking football reduces the chance of injury as there is no contact and no heading the ball.
The club meets Monday 12pm to 1pm and Thursday 7pm to 8pm. Details at: www.skiptonwalkingfootball.com
