A PLANNING application for a 10-pitch caravan and camping site with facilities block is to be determined by Craven District Council’s planning committee next week.

The application had been lodged by Thornton Hall Farm Visitor Centre and is to be brought to committee at the request of Councillor Richard Pringle due to concerns for access, amenity, screening and noise.

The site is on a rectangular parcel of land located to the west of the existing track with Thornton Hall Farm to the east.

An initial proposal to include a manger’s flat above the facilities block has been omitted following concerns raised by the planning officer.

Access to the site would be directly off the existing track that serves the farm.

A number of representations have been received by the planners, mostly concerned with the increase in traffic, noise nuisance and close proximity to adjoining properties as well as inadequate access.

Another stated it was out of keeping with the local area and would reduce the value of nearby properties.

The application has been recommended for approval with conditions. It will be determined at Tuesday’s committee meeting.
