A CAKE inspired by Australian bush fires was the winner in a climate change competition at Glusburn Community Primary School.
For the 12th year, pupils and staff took part in UNICEF’s Day of Change, which raises money for projects in developing countries. The event also aims to support children’s rights to good nutrition, an education, sanitation, clean water, health care and, this year, the effects of climate change.
Pupils have been looking at their carbon footprints and using alternative forms of energy, and took part in a day of activities, including a climate change ‘teachers’s bake-off,’.
The winning cake was raffled off, and there was also a ‘day for change’ quiz, an eco-themed workshop and an art competition, and a special awareness raising assembly.
