ERMYSTED’S Grammar School is staging a week of roadshows next month to help prospective parents of the outstanding school understand its new admissions process.

Headteacher, Michael Evans, said: “The school is keen to publicise the changes to its admissions process, which will affect those wishing to join Ermysted’s in September 2021 and for who testing will take place on the morning of Saturday, September 19.”

It will be the first time that Ermysted’s, and not North Yorkshire County Council, will be responsible for organising the testing of those who want to join the school. Parents who wish their children to sit the test will have to register - children will not be entered automatically, as they have done in the past.

Test registration will open at midday on Monday, April 20 and will close at midday on Monday, July 6. Those who do not register may miss out and will only be considered after March, 2021 when school places are all allocated.

There will be roadshows at five primary schools in the school’s catchment area between Monday, March 16 and Friday, March 20. Senior members of the school staff will host the events, will give a short presentation and answer questions. Prospective parents can also look at the school’s website for information.

The roadshows, all between 3.30pm and 4.30pm, will be held at: Threshfield Primary School on Monday, March 16; Skipton Parish Church School, March 17; Embsay Primary School, March 18; Gargrave Primary School, March 19; Water Street Primary School on March 20.

All events are open to parents and carers of pupils in any school and in any year. They will be informal, and children are welcome to attend. There will also be an open evening at Ermysted’s on Tuesday, June 30 from 6pm to 8pm.
