A NEW livestock sale is being added to next month’s popular dairy auction with the aim of it becoming a regular feature.

Craven Cattle Mart (CCM) and Kivells are delighted to announce an inaugural joint venture for April 2020, when they will join forces to bring an exciting Jersey consignment sale to Skipton.

Increasing demand to source premium quality pedigree Jerseys in the north of England is the driver behind this new venture.

The initial response to the new addition has been favourable and Craven Cattle Mart auctioneers are hopeful this first sale will be the first of many more.

In combining for this sale, the two companies can capitalise on their own strengths.

Craven Cattle Marts are positioned to offer their first class auction facilities and continued expansion in dairy sales.

In addition they are delighted to be in a position to welcome Mark Davis, of Kivells, to the rostrum, bringing with him his leading knowledge and expertise in UK Jerseys.

Mark has been at Kivells for 11 years and during that time has led them to being the leading auctioneers of Channel Island breeds in the UK.

He is also heavily involved in the family’s Rivermead Jersey herd and is a board member of the Jersey Cattle Society.

With the team’s drive and passion to make this sale work, and Skipton’s ease of accessibility to both east and west and north and south, vendors and buyers alike should be keen to be part of the event on Monday, April 27.

This will be a catalogued sale, with entries needed to be recorded by Monday, April 6.

The response for the sale has already been immense.

Consignments from several leading Northern pedigree Jersey herds hae already been included as well as the dispersal of the prize-winning herd of Judith Waring, Cherry Burton, Beverley.

The Cherryview herd numbers over 30 head, from brood cows, show ready milkers to show calves.

In a mere 20 years since its formation Judith has registered over 130 Jerseys, with so far 15 EX and 34 VG.

Prominent families include the Laceys, Totems and Geminis.

This not to be missed dispersal for breeders will offer unique opportunities alongside freshly calved cows and heifers and breeding bulls.

Anyone with animals they would like to consign or need a catalogue then please let CCM dairy sales coordinator Sarah Liddle know.

She can be contacted on either 07710 795585 or by email on sarahaliddle@btinternet.com.

Sarah is ready and happy to visit farms who think they may have animals for this or any other sale.

The Jersey cattle sale will be held following the regular fortnightly dairy sale.
