A WARNING was issued to motorists after unleaded fuel ended up in a diesel storage tank at a Cross Hills petrol station.
Drivers inadvertently filled-up with the wrong fuel following the incident at the Co-op site, in Station Road.
The Co-op has issued an apology and says it is “assisting affected customers”.
It is not known how many people were affected.
A spokesman said: “A diesel pump at our fuel station in Station Road, Cross Hills, has been temporarily taken out of service after an issue was identified early yesterday morning. We are assisting affected customers and are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. The remaining unleaded fuel bays are unaffected and in full service.”
Glusburn & Cross Hills Parish Council issued a warning to motorists on its website.
It said: “Anyone who has filled up over the weekend beware!”
