A GRASSINGTON man was issued with a fixed penalty notice for disturbing the peace at the weekend.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called to The Square in Grassington just before midday on Sunday, March 22 after a caller reported a man shouting threats towards people there.

"Officers attended, and, after speaking to witnesses, went to the home address of a man in his 50s.

"He was issued with a Penalty Notice for Disorder for a public order offence."

No further information was given by police but a witness said the man was upset because of the number of visitors in the village after the government told people to social distance themselves.
