SELF employed plumber James Holden from Skipton has raised more than £1,000 with an online football card game which he has used to buy bottles of soft drinks for hard working NHS staff at Airedale Hospital, Steeton.
James, owner of JNH Plumbing and Tiling, has been inviting people via his Facebook page to pay £5 for a team, and giving half to the winner, and half to hospital staff - with many winners also donating their share.
“I’ve got quite a few friends at the hospital and they told me what they really needed was something to drink because they get so hot,” he said.
The Airedale Hospital and Community Charity tweeted: "Thankyou so much for bringing us some drinks today, we are so grateful."
He has also been raising money for other charities, including £400 to Manorlands Hospice, £150 to mental health support group, Talk and Thrive in Cross Hills, and £75 to a domestic violence charity in Leeds.
