NATIONAL park rangers are supporting Craven District Council to deliver free Morrisons food parcels to community hubs during the Covid-19 ‘lockdown’.

Today, Wednesday, the team was due to pick up essential supplies from Morrisons’ supermarket in Skipton for the fourth week in a row..

Boxes of supplies are being distributed to seven locations throughout Craven for volunteers to distribute to people most in need.

The locations are at Skipton food bank, Grassington Hub, Settle Victoria Hall, Bentham Community Youth Café and to Age UK in Settle, Ingleton and Hellifield.

The leader of Craven District Council, Richard Foster, who is also a Member of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, said: “We are doing everything we can to support local community organisations in their work to help distribute essential supplies to those who are vulnerable, self-isolating or shielding.

The Chairman of Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, Carl Lis, added: “Our ranger service is able to reach the most remote communities in the National Park, so we are only too pleased to be able to play our part in supporting this fantastic initiative.”
