ORGANISERS of a music and cinema event which should have taken place in Skipton this summer say they are delighted that headliners Feeder and Razorlight have confirmed for the festival’s new dates next year.

All those originally lined up for the now postponed Gateways Festival, also including Scouting for Girls, The Lightning Seeds and Toploader, have said they will perform on the new dates in August, next year.

Organisers of the weekend long event, in Aireville Park, said it was a difficult decision to postpone this year’s festival, because of the coronavirus crisis, but that they were already looking forward to next year.

Feeder has had 20 top 40 hits, including Buck Rogers, Come Back Around, and Just A Day, has headlined at many tours and played at all major festivals.

Razorlight released its debut album ‘Up all night’ in 2004, and since then the band, headed by Johnny Borrell has continued to make an impact on the indie rock scene with ‘exceptional live performances and ‘confident swagger’ and hit singles including ‘America’, ‘In the morning’, Somewhere Else’, ‘Golden Touch’, and ‘Wire to Wire’.

The event will also include a ‘battle of the bands’ competition featuring the area’s talent, and on the Friday afternoon, an outdoor cinema will be created aimed at children and families.

A spokesperson for Gateways said: “We are so thrilled to be bringing the likes of Feeder and Razorlight as our headliners to Gateways.

“Aireville Park is in a beautiful setting and perfect for this type of event. We hope the public likes what we have to offer so that Gateways can become a regular fixture in the annual events calendar.”

Kerry Wheelwright, tourism and events manager at Skipton Town Council said:“I am really excited to be welcoming Gateways Festival to Skipton and it is exactly the kind of event the town needs. This kind of event brings in a different demographic to Skipton and really opens the town up to showcase ourselves to different markets.

We are delighted Gateways sees the potential Skipton has and has decided to use our town to bring in such high profile artists and entertainment. It is set to be a great weekend all round. We can’t wait.”

Gateways is due to take place from August 6 to August 8, 2021. .For tickets log on to www.gatewaysfestival.co.uk
