BOTH of the area’s fell rescue teams have cancelled their main fundraising events of the year due to the coronavirus crisis.
The Clapham based Cave Rescue Organisation’s Ingleborough Marathon and Clapham circuit, both of which should have taken place on May 16 did not take place, and now, the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association has cancelled its Kettlewell based Wharfedale Three Peaks Challenge on June 27.
Both organisations are appealing for people to support their work, which continues, by donating money via their websites.
Both are planning to hold their events next year.
The CRO says on its website: “This is a major fundraising event for the team, which relies entirely on voluntary contributions and this decision was not taken lightly.Due to the restrictions now occurring throughout the country, most of our opportunities to fundraise this year will be lost.We will still be here to provide a rescue service throughout the crisis.”
