A SKIPTON based charity is offering to send some key workers and their children on much deserved breaks to the country - once coronavirus lockdown restrictions allow.

The Principle Trust children’s charity, which provides free holidays for disadvantaged children and their families at its five holiday homes, says it wants to help families who have struggled as a result of having a key worker parent during the coronavirus crisis.

Mike Davies MBE, who founded the charity in 2011, said: “There is no doubt that the children of the key workers, working hard with severe risk, at the forefront of this awful virus deserve a break with their parents to charge and enjoy family life again”.

The charity is asking key workers to either put themselves forward for a holiday, or for friends and colleagues to nominate them. It will allocate breaks, depending on availability, and once the holiday parks have reopened, after the coronavirus lockdown.

To nominate yourself, or someone you know, email info@theprincipletrust.co.uk. The charity is also asking for people to fundraise and help it continue with its work to improve the quality of life of children across Yorkshire .

Its holiday homes are at Blackpool, Lake Windermere, and Gisburn.
