Drystone Radio has been given approval to increase the power of its FM signal.
Communications regulator, OFCOM, has granted permission for the community radio station, which broadcasts from its Cowling studios on 103.5FM, to boost the strength of its FM transmitter, located at Valley Farm above Sutton-in-Craven, by a factor of three.
Drystone’s Craven at Breakfast presenter, James Proctor. James says “the hills and valleys in this part of world can make FM signals hard to receive. But turning up the volume like this will help reduce the crackles and is a clear thumbs-up from OFCOM for what Drystone is doing in these difficult times. With the imminent demise of Stray FM from Harrogate, local media has never been more important and Drystone goes from strength to strength”.
Founder David Adams said: “Permission to turn up the power by three times is fantastic news for all our listeners. It means our FM signal will be stronger and clearer.”
