GARGRAVE open garden participants who have not been able to allow access to their gardens this year have instead set up a virtual trail which has already gone global.
The annual event raises money for the village’s St Andrew’s Church and attracts hundreds of admiring visitors to the village.
For the virtual tour, villagers are uploading photographs, blog posts, videos, drone footage and interviews from their gardens with people signing in for virtual visits.
Some of those signing up have been from Italy, the USA and Australia.
One 3D video allows viewers to navigate their own way during a tour of a garden in Bell Busk.
Participants can sign up to receive updates when new entries are posted.
Donations to St Andrew’s Church are also invited.
The organisers are hoping to reach all continents by the end of the summer.
