THERE has been a spate of letters about Dominic Cumming's breaking of the lockdown rules and his subsequent defence of that fact in recent weeks in the Craven Herald.

Most were critical, one supported Mr Cummings. It should now be clear for everyone to see the impact that his actions have had on the English population's continuing observance of the lockdown rules.

We all were able to witness in the media the overcrowded beaches, the crass behaviour of Liverpool fans after winning the Premiership and the street parties/raves. This was the most serious effect of Boris Johnson's defence of Mr Cummings' errant ways - the simple truth that if a senior advisor to the government can get away with it, then why can't we!
