LIBRARIES in Burley-in-Wharfedale and Menston are now offering an order and collect service for books.

Burley-in-Wharfedale library reopened for limited services from Tuesday. It will be open for returns and the collection of orders on Tuesdays from 2pm to 5pm, Fridays from 2pm to 5pm and Saturdays 10am to 1pm.

Specific books can be ordered through the online system at www.burleylibrary.org or by emailing the library at burleylibrary@gmail.com. You can also telephone the library on 01943 863714 during hours or leave a message. Abigail Skerrey, senior library assistant and volunteer coordinator said: “Please only choose from stock that is shown to be in Burley Library itself as many other libraries are not open yet. Alternatively, you can order a small quantity of books by a specific author or genre. If you are emailing or telephoning please include your library card number, name, address and phone number as well as your specific requests.

“When your order is ready you will be contacted by telephone to let you know and agree on a collection date/time. Please do not come to the library if you are unwell in any way, but especially if you have coronavirus symptoms. If you are unwell or self-isolating please contact the library and we can arrange for your books to be delivered contactlessly.

“A face covering should be worn if you are visiting the library. Only one household may enter and remain in the foyer at any one time, and hand sanitiser should be applied immediately on entering. Your pre-issued items will then be brought to you. Please bring your own bags if possible.

“There will be no public access to the main library building at this time and the public computers and printing/photocopying facilities will not be available.

“The library staff and volunteers look forward to welcoming you back very soon.”

The Order and Collect service started at Menston Library on Monday. Contact Menston Library by email menston.library@gmail.com or call 01943 876539.
