SKIPTON Auction Mart’s second online timed two-day auction for all classes of machinery, implements, vehicles, stone, reclamation and other general items again proved extremely successful, with a very good clearance rate achieved overall for the 166 lots entered, up on the first sale’s 113. (Wed & Thurs, Aug 6&7)

Prices in the large item section peaked at £9,600 for a Case 580SK digger after strong and active bidding throughout for this item. Like the previous sale, a feature at the latest renewal was the entry of Landrover Defenders, a 1997 hardtop 90 with 51,000 miles on the clock selling for £5,000.

Stone, timber, reclaim, salvage and vintage items are producing very good interest levels at online auctions, much the same as they do at Agri-Trader Auctions, with good demand for all items, including stone troughs, architectural stone, building stone, flags and the like.

For example, stone gate posts sold to £400, a pair of gate post tops making £320, a concrete water trough £330, a horse mounting block £220, with a stone mushroom hitting £60.

Solid interest in livestock equipment saw a top price of £3,450 for a sheep shower and trailer, with sheep turnover crates selling to £900.

The sale even included a dispersal of quality used horse tack and equipment, with keen interest again shown, while a hand-painted fibreglass sheep, one of 25 produced for the town’s tourism-boosting ‘Flock to Skipton’ initiative a decade ago, was knocked down for £360. Skipton’s next online general timed auction for all classes of machinery, vehicles, ATVS, implements, plant, stone, reclaim, salvage, smallholder equipment and other general items has been scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, September 24 & 25. The entries deadline is Friday, September 11, with all entries to be delivered to site by Tuesday, September 15.

It is also intended that the sale should include the first general timed auction for pedigree, store and breeding stock usually offered by private sale on a farm-to-farm basis. Further details will be posted at www.ccmauctions.com
