BRADFORD Alhambra has rescheduled its planned 2020 pantomime Sleeping Beauty. Panto funnyman Billy Pearce will still be in the lead role when the show is performed from December 11, 2021 to January 16, 2022.

Bradford Council, which runs the Alhambra, came to the decision in conjunction with its regular panto producers Qdos Entertainment.

A spokesman said: “Due to government advice on Covid-19 and to protect the health and wellbeing of our audiences, cast and crew, it is with great sadness that the decision has been taken to reschedule the Bradford festive production of Sleeping Beauty.”

Bradford Theatres general manager Adam Renton said: “The decision has been a very difficult one and was not taken lightly. I have had lengthy conversations with Qdos Entertainment who produce our annual pantomime and we have looked at it very carefully from so many different angles. However we are left with no choice but to postpone Sleeping Beauty to next year.

“We look forward to welcoming audiences back to enjoy the magic of Sleeping Beauty with Billy Pearce at the helm in December 2021. He will play the hilarious Muddles; best friend and loyal companion to the beautiful Princess.”
