'I SAY, that's a scorcher' comments a soldier looking towards a young woman riding a bike.
The advert appeared in the Craven Herald in August, 1945 and was one of a series of ads for the Hercules Cycle and Motor Company.
Founded by Edmund and Harry Crane, the company initially produced 25 bicycles a week.
The original company – which had become part of Raleigh – was dissolved in December 2003.
The brand however lives on as part of TI Cycles of India.
