ONE of the biggest fire call-outs in West Yorkshire so far this year – at Silsden – is thought to have been caused by a child playing with fire.
On April 21, a blaze at Heights Farm led to a huge response from emergency services.
The fire, in a 40 by 40 metre barn, has been included in a report by West Yorkshire Fire Authority into incidents over the period between April and July that required the biggest turnout.
The report reveals that ten fire engines, 66 firefighters and six officers were mobilised to tackle the fire.
It had initially been feared that a young person was missing in the blaze.
The report adds: “It was ascertained that the most likely cause was a child playing with fire.”
