HOME Instead Senior Care, a home care provider across Ilkley and Otley, has organised a series of events to support people living with dementia in the community.

A spokesperson said: “We understand how difficult and emotional it can be caring for someone living with dementia at home.

“As part of World Alzheimer’s Month, come and discover what help and support is available for older people and those living with dementia, in and around Ilkley.

• Friday 18th Sept, Queens Hall (Burley in Wharfedale), 11am-2pm

• Thursday 24th Sept, Clarke Foley Centre (Ilkley), 10:30am-2:30pm

• Friday 25th Sept, Addingham Memorial Hall, 11am-2pm

“We will be joined by local experts and those who support older people such as:

• Moor Therapy Solutions

• Social Prescribers from the local GP surgeries

• Ison Harrison Solicitors

“We’ll be following all social distancing guidelines and will record the temperatures and contact details of all attendees for track and trace purposes.

“Everyone is welcome – come along for more information.

“In addition, we’re also running virtual Dementia Friends sessions – an initiative by the Alzheimer’s Society to help people understand more about dementia, to support those living with dementia and to try and remove the stigma associated with this.

“They will be running on Tuesday 22nd and Tuesday 29th at 12pm.

“To join these virtual Zoom sessions, please get in touch with our team and we can share the joining link.
