AMNESTY Wharfedale is organising a 26-mile walk as part of the virtual London Marathon, the real event having been cancelled this year.

Member Ed Carne has taken up this challenge and is proposing to walk from Oughtershaw, near the source of the River Wharfe, to Bolton Bridge, in order to raise much needed funds so that Amnesty International can continue its valuable work for wrongly incarcerated prisoners of conscience and others suffering human rights violations.

Ed’s walk will take place on October 3. If you are able, please make a donation via his ‘Just Giving‘ page - search for Just Giving and then enter Leigh Carne in the Just Giving search box.

The money raised will help replace funds which is normally raised by an annual street collection usually held on September 12 by the Wharfedale branch of Amnesty International.

That event had to be cancelled due to Covid-19.
