AN award-winning licensee has spoken of the challenges of taking over a pub in the middle of lockdown.

Marsha Jones became mine host at the Inn at Eastburn just under two months ago.

“Our aim is to put this wonderful community pub back on the map,” says Marsha, whose partner Graham is also involved after leaving his job of 17 years as a transport manager.

“We have been very strict from day one with regards to the Covid-19 guidelines.

“The pub lends itself well to the guidance – with an entrance and two exits in use, plus two private dining rooms and spacious tables elsewhere.”

Marsha – who also has an award-winning pub in Bramley, Leeds – says the geography of the Inn at Eastburn has sparked some debate amongst customers in relation to the restrictions.

“Geographically we are under Bradford Council but we are less than a mile from the North Yorkshire border and have customers from both ‘territories’,” she said.

“They often disagree about the regulations!”
