IT’’S never too late to learn new tricks, as Settle and Giggleswick Golf Club’s pride of the fairway, Eddie Kidd can tell you.

Peter Johnson, honorary secretary of the club said Eddie had caused quite a stir over recent weeks.

He said: “Eddie went for a golfing lesson a few weeks ago. Since then he has won the last two competitions at the golf club. He won the David Percy Memorial Medal and last week he won in the team event three man scramble.

“Nothing too remarkable you may say. Well Eddie is aged 89. He will be celebrating his 90th birthday in less than a month. He joined the golf club back in 1976 and has been a stalwart member ever since. He plays most days and is one of the happiest jolly people you will ever meet. It just goes to show you can teach an old dog new tricks.”
