A TEAM of 16 volunteers from the Grassington based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) went to the aid of a woman after she fell in mud while walking on Ilkley Moor yesterday (Sunday).

A spokesperson for UWFRA said: “We were called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with a 36 year old female, who had slipped in the mud on Ilkley moor and sustained an ankle injury.

“Team members were first on scene and gave first aid by splinting the leg and administering pain relief. The ambulance crew then arrived and gave further pain relief. With her injury stabilised, the casualty was moved to a team stretcher for the short carry down to the ambulance.”

The team spent two hours and 24 minutes carrying out the rescue.
