LONG Preston and Hellifield Guides and Rangers have been chosen to benefit from the Co-op’s Local Community Fund which helps good causes through shoppers’ purchases.
Guide leader Helen Cressey said: “At a time when funds for charitable organisations are becoming more difficult to access, we’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in our local area.
The unit has members from Gargrave, Long Preston, Hellifield and Settle. We are still meeting virtually and providing activities for the unit.”
Ms Cressey said in September the girls carried out a socially-distanced litter pick in Gargrave and on Castleberg Crag Settle.
The supermarket’s community fund raises money for good causes local to an individual store. Co-op members can decide which group they wish to back by going online www.coop.co.uk/membership.
