MORE than 30 primary schools across Keighley are receiving a book donation.

Bupa Foundation and Bradford Stories are giving away paperback copies of Bloomsbury Publishing’s The Book of Hopes.

The book – launched in April in response to the first national lockdown – features short stories, artwork and poems by more than 130 popular children’s authors, illustrators and poets.

Bradford Stories is a National Literacy Trust and Bradford Council campaign which aims to improve literacy levels in the district.

Children are being encouraged to enter a National Literacy Trust competition for all schools that received the donated books.

Teachers and pupils are asked to share information about how they are spreading optimism and hope in school and their community.

Entrants could win a set of Katherine Rundell best-selling books and signed artwork, plus a visit from the author.

The competition runs until January 31.
