THE Skipton centre of Cancer Support Yorkshire is set to benefit from Christmas diners at the town’s Royal Shepherd pub.

Landlord Allan Shutt, who took over the pub in Canal Street earlier this year, has carried refurbished it and was due to reopen in the summer. The coronavirus put paid to that, but the pub is now open - under tier 2 rules pubs serving food are allowed to operate.

Mr Shutt has now chosen the Otley Street centre as his charity to support for the rest of this year and next. Every £5 from those booking from the Christmas menu will go to the charity.

Charity fundraiser, Linda Enderby, said:

“Our Centres had to close in March, but we are still here providing 85 per cent of our services by telephone and online and taking new referrals. Therefore, the support of The Royal Shepherd is very much appreciated and will benefit local people in need of our free services.”
