THIS old photograph is of Dobson Family Chemist which was on the corner of Jerry Croft and Skipton High Street.
There is no date to the picture but the young tree sapling in the foreground is likely to be one of 14 lime trees planted along the high street to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887.
The building has since been transformed considerably and divided into two. It is currently a home decor shop and a vape shop.
Prior to that it was Whitakers Chocolates.
Picture reproduced by kind permission of the Ellwood family, Mrs V Rowley, North Yorkshire County Council and Skipton library.
