SNOW ploughs are currently working on a stretch of the A59 at West Marton which has been blocked for more than an hour due to heavy snow.
Traffic, including farmers trying to get to Gisburn Auction Mart, is currently at a standstill, with vehicles backing up, both ways towards Skipton and Gisburn.
North Yorkshire highways officers, snow ploughs, and gritters are working to get the traffic moving again.
One driver, who asked not to be named, said: "I use this road a lot, and I've never seen it like this, its chaos."
