IN an effort to maximise levels of protection during the coronavirus crisis for all its pupils, the Upper Wharfedale Primary Federation of schools has brought in the latest in air sterilisation technology

The group of schools, Burnsall, Cracoe and Rylstone , Grassington, and Kettlewell, is trialling a free standing UVent unit. Designed, tested and manufactured in the UK by Bradford based air management experts Mansfield Pollard, and used by the NHS, it has the ability to constantly sterilise the air within any room or specific space.

It claims to use UV-C light technology to destroy airborne pathogens including coronavirus, influenza, norovirus and E.coli.

Executive headteachers, Ella Besharati and Christine Boxall said the unit was currently being used at the hub school, Burnsall. Maximising protection levels was highest priority.”Airborne virus and bacterial infections have dominated our lives for the last nine months and will probably continue to do so for the foreseeable future,” they said.
