A BUILDER who admitted being over twice the drink-driving limit refused the chance to reduce his ban with a rehabilitation course.
Alexander Campbell, 30, of Coach House, Cross Keys, Rathmell, was stopped by police at 10.40am on July 16 last year in Main Street, Rathmell after driving a Peugeot 308 vehicle while over the limit.
He was taken to the police station and a subsequent blood test showed he had 166 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.
Campbell, who was not represented when he appeared at Skipton Magistrates' Court, pleaded guilty to the charge.
When offered the chance to do a rehabilitation court which could reduce his sentence by a quarter he said: "I did something stupid (by drink-driving) so I will take it (the punishment).
Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 18 months. He was also fined £440 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £44 and £85 costs.
