DESPITE being scuppered because of the coronavirus, Skipton’s ‘Mr Sport’, Roger Ingham, still managed to raise an impressive £300 for charity over the Christmas holiday.

Roger has become a familiar sight over the festive period for several years, carrying out a tour of the town’s pubs collecting for children’s cancer charity, Candlelighters.

However, the goodwill of friends ensured that he could still acknowledge worthy causes, with people turning up at his door with donations, or enclosing some money in with a Christmas card.

In the end, Roger collected £300 - £200 of which will go towards Candlelighters, for which he has already raised more than £75,000; and the rest to the Luke Mortimer Rehabilitation Fund.

"I would like to thank everyone who kindly contributed,” said Roger.
