A MAN who carried out a ‘sustained and unprovoked’ attack on a former work colleague, breaking his nose and fracturing ribs, has been told he faces a possible prison sentence.

Magistrates at Skipton told Niam Parvaz they were adjourning sentence for an all options report, which included the possibility of custody, but that he could still be sent to crown court by the next set of magistrates for its greater sentencing powers.

Parvaz, 26, the court was told last Friday, attacked Lucasz Jarosinski on July 6 last year, outside The Papershop in Shortbank Road, Skipton.

Mr Jarosinski told police he knew his attacker because he used to work with him, the court was told.

Prosecuting, Nadine Clough, who described it as a ‘provoked and sustained attack’ said Mr Jarosinski crouched to try to protect himself, but was kicked a further twice. Parvaz then got into his car and drove away.

Mr Jarosinski was treated in hospital under local anaesthetic for a fractured nose and ribs.

Parvaz, of Holmroyd Avenue, Holme Lane, Cross Hills,of previous good character, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is due to be sentenced on February 26. He was allowed unconditional bail.
