A FARNHILL woman says she was ‘thrilled and humbled’ to get her Covid vaccination this morning.
Lynn Wild, 70, who suffers from a blood disorder called Von Willebrand’s disease, is believed to be the first woman in the world with her type of haemophilia to receive the jab.
“It nearly didn’t happen when I saw the snow today,” she said.
“But the staff at Long Lee where I had the jab had made special provision for a few vulnerable people to get vaccinated and one of them was me. Volunteers cleared a parking space of snow specially.
“I couldn’t thank them enough. The practice manager said she was just as excited and videoed me. It is such a relief.”
Mrs Wild’s disorder means she is at risk of severe bleeding so had to take a special drug before the shot and again afterwards. She will be monitored for 48 hours.
“I wanted to tell people I was having the vaccine to show how much I believed in it and was willing to have one even though there was a risk to me of bleeding.
“The staff at Long Lee said it was good that someone was showing another positive side to the vaccine. I have the second jab in April and will then be able to get on with my life. Having the jab was never a doubt for me.”
