THE most recent coronavirus statistics for Pendle show that new cases are coming down and that the infection rate is reducing.

There were 327 new cases across Pendle, which includes Barnoldswick and Earby, in the last seven days up to yesterday (Wednesday), and the infection rate was 375.9 per 100,000 of the population.

As for the last two weeks, the age group for most new cases, were 30 to 39 year olds.

Pendle Council says the rate is still high, and above the average for England, and sadly, more people over the last week have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

The council is urging people to stay safe, stick to the restrictions and get vaccinated to protect themselves against Covid-19 when they are contacted by the NHS.

A spokesperson said: “If it’s essential to go out, we’re reminding people to wash hands, make space and wear face coverings when in enclosed public spaces.”

Number of new cases for the week up to January 27 was 433 and the rate of infection per 100,000 was 535.2
