SKIPTON based windows and doors company, Carrs Windows Ltd, is marking ten years in business by partnering with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust to plant a tree for every job it completes with timber windows and/or doors in 2021.

The family-run business offers customers uPVC and aluminium windows but it is a specialist in timber and makes all its timber products on site at Airedale Business Centre, in Keighley Road.

Director, Marc Carr, 34, launched Carrs Windows Ltd in 2011. After years of saving for a house deposit with his partner, he convinced her to instead put the money into machinery he needed to make bespoke timber windows and doors. The company is now a team of eleven, including joiners, fitters, a sprayer and office administrators.

To date Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust has helped to deliver inspiring projects worth around £30 million in the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding areas. These projects cover areas as diverse as countryside apprenticeships, supporting local communities, education and outreach, restoring woodlands and wildlife habitats, and improving access and understanding of the place. The charity has supported the planting of 1.5 million trees in the area.

Marc said: “Sustainability is really important to everyone these days and we do all we can to ensure it is a key part of our business. It doesn’t just make sense for the planet, it makes good business sense too. Our company slogan is “Made in the Dales to withstand the Dales” but we’re also keen to look after our beautiful area. We’re delighted to be partnering with the Trust to create woodlands across our beautiful area.”

Michael Devlin, Development Manager of Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust said: “Through our ‘Together for Trees’ campaign we are working with many supporters and partners such as Carrs Windows to plant as many trees as we can across the Dales. Trees are hugely valuable as a habitat for wildlife supporting some of our most endangered woodland animals, like red squirrels, dormice and cuckoos. They are also important for our mental health and wellbeing and we believe that everyone should have access to them. The appeal aims to raise funds to create beautiful woodlands that everyone can enjoy for years to come. We’re really excited to continue our partnership with Carrs Windows as one of our charity partners and we’ll be excited to welcome them to the woodlands they’re supporting later in the year.”

YDMT intends to dedicate the first Carrs Windows Ltd trees at Ormsgill Wood.
