Weather forecasters are warning people in the district to brace themselves for more snow.
According to the Met Office the district faces several days of snow and icy temperatures.
A spokesman said: "There will be scattered snow showers, sometimes heavy, and sunny intervals, although some places will stay dry. Further accumulations of snow are likely.
"It will feel bitterly cold everywhere, with easterly gales in some parts."
The bad weather is expected to continue until the middle of the week.
