A CHARITY for parents is appealing for volunteers to organise walks in the Skipton area.

Skipton and District National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is offering free ‘walk and talk’ sessions for mums and dads to meet with their babies and toddlers for a socially distanced walk.

It is allowed to offer the walks because of an exemption from current coronavirus restrictions which allows organised parent support groups to meet in larger numbers.

The NCT says the walks are a chance for parents to meet up, to chat and support each other. Sessions are free, parents just need to pre-book tickets.

Sammi Angel, Skipton volunteer, said: “The walk and talk tickets are going like hot cakes. It shows how desperate new mums and dads are to get out and meet others in the same boat.

“It’s especially important that new parents get this opportunity now as so many are feeling isolated, anxious and uncertain due to the pandemic. We’d love to hear from more mums and dads who are willing to volunteer to organise a Walk in their area.”
