DR AMIR Khan - television doctor, author and NHS GP - has been appointed as the first ambassador for Manorlands Hospice, Oxenhope.
Bradford-born Amir, who has been a GP in West Yorkshire for more than a decade, first appeared on the hit Channel 5 series GPs: Behind Closed Doors and makes regular appearances on ITV’s Lorraine and Good Morning Britain.
Last year, he published ‘The Doctor Will See You Now: The highs and lows of my life as an NHS GP’ which became a Sunday Times bestseller.
He said: “Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is a very special place and I am honoured and proud to have been asked to be an ambassador. The hospice provides vital care and support to people in our community and I look forward to helping raise awareness of the invaluable work they do.”
Manorlands Hospice provides care and support for people with life limiting conditions across Craven as well as Bradford, Airedale, and Wharfedale
It also provides support for families and community services for people who prefer to receive palliative care at home.
Lizzie Procter, hospice director, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Dr Amir Khan has become our very first ambassador.
“At a time when we need the support of the public more than ever, having him on board will help us to spread the word about the services we provide and help us continue to be there when it matters.”
